Hi,

I am in the market for a suit and wanted yuor opinion on what colour/material would be most versatile.

I intend to wear the suit for job interviews, weddings or when dressing up smart is reuquired.

I don't particularly like black suits. The other colours are navy blue, dark grey or ash grey?

I'm thinking a wool blend would be best.

I would appreciate your advice. If possible, post pics of colour you recommend.

Thanks

a solid navy blue or charcoal grey. 100% wool, midweight for all year wear. this is your best bet. you can wear black or brown shoes and many color ties with either option.

Out of the "navy and charcoal" routine, I'd get navy simply because everyone chooses charcoal while either is perfectly fine.

Solid dark navy blue. And go for 100% wool.

Navy = the most versatile dark colored suit. Any occasion calls for Navy.
Medium to darker Gray = very attractive, but lacks evening versatility of Navy.
Charcoal = versatile, but avoid dark charcoals which become black - like.

You cant go wrong with any three. But with the numbers of people employing charcoal suits nowadays, I feel the mid - darker grays and Navy suits are getting left out.

If it were me, I would want to stand out more, and hence would choose a darker medium gray, it is a great all rounder. Navy a close second, Charcoal a distant third.

If it were me, I would go with 100% doeskin wool in a dark navy sort of color. But a charcoal would also be excellent, esp. for the job interviews if you need to look more "bankerish." The lighter grey would be nice too. All your choices are fine really, unless your job interviews are in the financial sector (in which I would say go charcoal all the way).

I would really recommend 100% wool if you can afford it.

Pick the color you prefer of the three in 100% wool. White is a horrible suggestion, cream OTOH...

Navy. If needed, you can wear the jacket as an odd jacket.

I would also say solid navy. Which said, I will add that I do not at this time own a solid navy suit. I do have a Corneliani navy pinstripe, which is the only RTW suit I presently own.
