Can anyone recommend an online watch store where I can look at an assortment of brands.

I am looking for a silver or white gold dress watch with a brown leather band with a very simple face. plus the face has to be either midsized. I have a small wrist, so bigger watches bother me.

I have been looking in stores for awhile but haven't seen exactly what I am looking for. My price range is under $1000, but I would prefer to keep it closer to $500 then a grand. I figure this would be a good place to search.

cheers.

Prestigetime is good. I have purchased from Bernardwatch.com and received good watch/service. These are both "gray market" providers. They are not official retailers, so their watches will not come w/ mfr. warranty. These guys seem to be an official retailer of a small number of mid-range brands (Fortis, Oris, Longines), so they might also be worth checking out. Their prices reflect the standard 20% discount from retail, although I don't think they're published because they are official and the mfrs don't like discount prices posted. http://www.worldlux.com/index.com

I highly recommend World Lux. They're local to Seattle (their showroom is in the Fairmont) and I've always recieved excellent service from them.

Oh, and make sure you buy from a Gray dealer that DOES NOT obliterate the Ser #..

here's where i order my wristwatches from; saves me on tax, i get free shipping, and save a little from the retail. so far, i have purchased a JLC reverso in steel, and my next purchase will be this one:

I had planned to buy the following watch, but i think i had better save those $$ to add to the "household items fund" instead! Still undecided tho....if I end up budgeting correctly.....hmm.....MAYBE....i sure do like this one.

There are a couple on here: www.watchbuys.com that I'd love to get but I am restraining myself every once. The $800 I want to spend is a plane ticket.

Regarding those online watch stores, the watch they sell doesn't have manufacturer's warranties. If something happens to, say my IWC or Omega, can I still have it serviced at official service centers?

They will still service the watch as long as the serial number is intact. www.watchbuys.com is an authorized dealer of many german lines, manufacturer warranty included. Check out NOMOS. They might have something close to what you're looking for.. very simple bauhaus designs with smaller case sizes and beautiful inhouse movements.

Thanks. I'm referring to Omegas which sites like prestigetime.com seems to sell way less than standard prices, even after the usual 25% discount you can get from Omega ADs. The watchbuys site is awesome too. I've been a fan of Nomos' understated elegance plus the fact they do inhouse movement. I also like Dornbleuth & Sohne's calibre 99.1 and Muhle's Teutonia line.

I have heard of a number of people having trouble with many of the "gray market" websites. The sites occasionally remove the serial numbers, or sell watches with removed serial numbers, even though they often have stated policies against the practice. For me, it isn't worth the hassle when spending a good sum of money on a watch. The sales forum on timezone is where I get most of my watches now, the only downside is that it takes time to identify reliable sellers. I agree with you about NOMOS, great designs and a great value. The dornbleuth models are also exceedingly beautiful. I love german watches, partly because of their availability. They have cut through the "prestige of buying from a brick a mortar" that is still prominent among their swiss counterparts.
