Any recommendation of either online or app-based relationship mapping tool?

I think that's how it's called... the muckety.com type of thing where you can create lines between people/companies to keep track of ideas and potential relationships (e.g. client/supplier) between entities. Looks like this and is interactive when clicking on lines and boxes:

Muckety has a function to create your own map but it's not well designed at all - everything needs to be kept in a spreadsheet and every time I would need to add a node or a line, I would need to make the change in the spreadsheet and upload it again. I'm looking for something where I can simply go and add nodes/relationships to my map.

any ideas? thx a lot

Looking for something that's either an online/cloud tool, or an iPad app.

Couple of suggestions for mind mapping software but, unless I'm missing something, it's quite different from an interactive contact database on which one can overlay existing or potential relationships. That muckety thing is pretty much what I need but without the extremely cumbersome data entry process.

Mind mapping software are essentially fancy drawing pads without the actual database, no?

Take a look at Kumu, we recently launched it and I think it is exactly what you are looking for. Here is a sample map: www.kumupowered.com/jeffmohr/the-power-of-kumu/web-2-0

It is built off actual data so you can add elements and connect them, and then add data to each element and connection. You can then choose to change the display of the map based on that data. Let us know your thoughts and how we can improve it! [email protected]

FYI, it is free of charge if you choose to make your account public.

Is there a way to connect this to a contact management database?

What contact management database are you looking to connect to? Right now we have an import built so you can easily transfer contacts from other platforms. In the future we'll be building an API so you could connect to other systems and have two way sync.

Send me an email at [email protected] and I can help with getting your current information into Kumu.

LinkedIn has a heatmapping app that does this by grouping similar contacts. I forget the name of it...
