Online MTM - body measurements or best fitting shirt measurements?

I've been looking at a number of online MTM shirtmakers and there seems to be a difference in opinion about what measurements (body vs best fitting shirt) will provide the best fit. Can any SFers chime in about your preferences?

I've had only bad experiences with body measurements. Once I used a bespoke shirt I have, naturally, the fit turned out much better.

Go with actual shirt measurements. I haven't seen one example yet of someone getting a well-fitting shirt after using body measurements.

The thing is, many things could go wrong when they're constructing the shirt from your body measurements. You're better off sending them tailored RTW/bespoke shirt measurements. Less can go wrong.

Being a noob myself I have been traversing these threads (modern tailor official thread, modern tailor reviews), and the consensus seams to be: go with shirt measurements. tailorStore did a good job on my first body-measured MTM though, only the sleeves came out too long (my fault). Which illustrates the pitfalls of body-measurements: getting the measurements right. [speculate/]Also if you have a challenging physique, or send in body-measurements that are somehow 'off' there seems to be a tendency to creative thinking in solving your shirts 'problems'.[/speculate] Either way, sending in measurements of a truly fitting shirt should eliminate those last two. I have seen a few people complaining about the producers not getting shirt-measurements right either, so apparently nothing is really safe.

Just looks like one has to be prepared for somewhat of a process.

I used body measurements at Tailorstore and got an excellent result.

No worries. Many people have problems with body measurements because they get them wrong, then, naturally, the garments they receive from whichever MTM provider they're using, is wrong as well. Get your measurements right, and you should (hopefully) have no problems.

Perhaps you are measuring incorrectly, as the measurements should be the same... If I measure my sleeve length to where I want it to end , it should be the exact same measurement if i were to measure a clone of myself vs measuring a shirt. Now since I don't have an exact replica of myself, it's impossible to measure my own body accurately, which means I would need someone to measure myself for me. If that person knows what they are doing, the measurements will come exactly the same as if I measure my shirt.
