I wonder if it would look better or worse if you had anything in the pockets? I always end up with stuff in those pockets.
Other than novelty, what is the supposed advantage offered by this pocket design?
Fair enough. My two cents: The jetted openings dominate the visual impression, and the patch aspect is likely to be something that you notice and makes little impression on others.I was mostly interested in it because I was thinking of getting a brown Fox Air suit (same fabric that Douglas is wearing). I like the idea of jetted pockets on a suit, and then something just slightly more casual looking on a sport coat. Plan to wear the suit jacket as a sport coat.
Like Fresco, Fox Air is one of those fabrics that somewhere between proper suiting and jacketing. Not sure I want a patch pocketed Fox Air suit. But also not sure I want a jetted Fox Air sport coat.

That makes sense. I’ll have to look more closely at my Oxxford!@sugarbutch
Idea is when something is placed in the pocket it expands inward toward the body because the pocket “bag” is on the interior rather than putting something in a patch pocket sewn on the exterior side and expanding outward. This concept is why Oxxford makes the interior pocket bag in a bellows style. The pocket bag would expand inward against the body.
The bellows is more effective.
It was a feature on their quarter/partially lined jackets. That makes sense. I’ll have to look more closely at my Oxxford!
I just remembered that my Oxxford has standard patch pockets. I guess it’s been a while since I wore it last...It was a feature on their quarter/partially lined jackets.
I've never seen a bellows-style interior pocket, but I'm aware of an interior pocket construction that has what is essentially a "horizontal pleat", which absorbs the weight of added objects without straining the exterior cloth. Not sure what that's called, though. How do you make interior pockets?@sugarbutch
