Prima prova, so not much to see here yet. But this Maison Hellard number is shaping up to be a rather fetching garment. So glad I was able to get a length.

On a related note, I checked out some interesting cloths made by Kuzuri - quite a famous mill here. In the picture below are two types of worsteds: merino on the right and cheviot on the left. The cheviot feels very hardy.

This one’s a kicker: 70% wool 30% (you read that right) BLUE FOX. A suiting cloth that feels eminently luxurious - it has an almost cashmere-like touch, which is a quality I’m not sure is desirable in suitings.

What else is there to fill in your wardrobe, Tuxedo?

Final fitting on the Lesser LGB. I'll pick up it and the Drapers houndstooth on Wednesday when the young'un goes in to try on his trousers. His jacket is in the queue. Also funded some cloth previously posted in the cloth thread.

It’s actually a type of silver fox (not a joke).
This 🤭 Japan has a place that is famous for its foxes, but I was not aware that the supply is plentiful enough for textile production. If anyone has any info on historical precedents, I’d love to hear it.

The tux was ordered 2 years ago, I just need to get around to being fitted for the last time.

Just having fun at this point and waiting for the orders to be delivered I guess, plus trying a new tailor every 1-2 years. I got all the essentials, which was easy to do because I don’t need a suit wardrobe for work.

Holland and sherry has fox blend suitings.

I need to do a bespoke tuxedo as well. I’m thinking about it.

Are they very expensive, like vicuna?
H&S is never cheap - I don’t recall it being at vicuña level, but was premium stuff alongside mink blends.

For those who have local tailors, what type of lead times do you guys experience from commission to delivery date?

Last I checked they were on par with cashmere? But I do not think they have it in stock anymore...this was nearly a decade ago since I last saw it and even if they did I would not be surprised if the prices are inflated!

About 3 months on the outside. Depends on how busy they are and what the backlog is. The other thing to think about is ordering more than one thing at once and ordering things in cycles so that you can do a full 3+ fittings on, say, the first jacket you have made so that you get the pattern right, then if you're having other jackets made with the same or suitably similar details, it takes less time to do those together.
