I'm slightly ashamed that I know who's on his IG based on SF past pics :rotflmao:
See, I have the opposite problem: I’m ashamed to say I can’t! And I’ve met several of them in person! Haha. oh well

I'm really liking what I see from Corcos' insta. He's still not accepting new clients, right?

You can get yourself on the list (or at least back then) and it opens up he will contact you during trunk show.

Ps and I was the guy when it opened up then asked if he could do roped shoulder, and he said I don’t do roped shoulder then that was the end of our conversation haha

I heard that Kotaro has beefed up his team with a few more guys to build the jackets.

When I used him, it used to be just him and his wife.

That might explain some of the variance I’m seeing in his work these days.
I think that’s a tough dilemma for every young tailor as they expand & reach capacity as far as number of clients. That’s why kotaro stopped taking new clients for years. If I recall correctly, in 2018, he wasn’t taking new clients until 2020. I believe that was when it was just him and his wife. Do they raise prices to reduce demand, or do they bring on help (which involves some training) and keep prices the same (or only slightly raise them).

I wonder how viable former option was, given that a lot of his clients are Japanese, and Japan has, until recently, undergone negative inflation, and the cost of living in Japan is significantly less than it is in Europe and America. (Which is why a lot of Napoli tailors, where cost of living is even less than Florence, charge international clients 2-3x what they charge italians.)

On a side note, I think it’s important and fair to clarify that the work from kotaro is still done at a high level.

Got my length of the LL Prince Tweed earlier this week. Can't wait to give it to Keiichi Satowa and have it made into a regal 2-piece - so happy he agreed to take me on as a client. The cloth just cries out for a drapey English cut.

Did anyone else subscribe to that?

I’d ask about making the jacket a shooting jacket. Keiichi does a nice shooting jacket.

And with that I wonder do you have any experience with 'Solaro'? @psb recently posted on the What are you wearing thread and @DougDevious commented that the fabric was solaro. I googled it, read a bit about it, and now I'm curious.

Any one else have experience with it?
I have three suits made from it that I wear around this time of the year. The traditional tan in a plain weave. And two herringbone. One in blue and the other in green. They are the obverse sides of the same fabric.

Fits very well. Shoulders not to my taste.
I find that all his stuff fits well and technically on point. But for some reason, it doesn’t pull me.

Today’s trip to the tailor was very positive. There is good progress on a medium grey 3-piece and a dark navy blue 2-piece, and also had them re-line an older jacket since the original lining was in shambles. Then, while I really should be ordering Summer suits, I was so taken with this plaid from the Alashan Breeze book that I had to order a sportcoat. The fabric is very light and soft, but it won’t get worn all that frequently in my current rotation, so I should get a good few years out of it.
