I finalized my jacket pattern last week. So, today, I started my next project that I’ve been excited about for several months.

I should have it all basted together tomorrow and ready for its first fitting.

Both fabrics are 3-ply Huddersfield Fresco.

Pattern (sleeve is obviously not assembled in the picture. I pinned it to nail the pitch and assembled it after I took the picture.):

Jacket and Ulster coat in process.
I can't remember, I might have been a naysayer on the yellowy glen plaid initially.

Now I'm really hype to see it finished, it looks great so far. I'm glad you were finally able to get this project going.

A heads-up for gentlemen here, affected all these years by the green SC-fad, it is to my understanding that in the Ermenegildo Zegna Anteprima SS'21, there are two solid, dark green jacketing fabrics, one in w-s-l and the other in wool-silk.

I have not yet seen them in person due to the lock-down, a glimpse may be taken in tessin.it, without being able to judge how close their posted images are IRL.

Best,

Dimitris

How would you compare that to 4-ply?
More open weave than the 4 ply. Heavier. Crisp and smooth. Almost impossible to break. Use limited to Spring, early Summer and Autumn because of the super airy weave combined with a heavy weight (still feeling light compared with a flannel in the same weight).

As planned, I spent the morning padding lapels and basting this thing together so that I could proceed with a fitting.

First thing tomorrow, I’ll start taking this thing apart again for minor adjustments before I re-pad the lapels and commence assembly.

Should also mention, for context, that the navy half will be single breasted with gold buttons and a patch pocket with a notch lapel and 4/4.5” gorge height. The gray will be double breasted with horn buttons, and a double jetted pocket, it’s peak lapel’s gorge will sit at 5” from the shoulder. The gray half will also be 1/2” shorter in length than the navy half.
