If you had only one tan suit, what materials and details would you include?

Tropical worsted, fresco, linen, cotton, a mohair blend or gabardine?

Would you consider having it made as a blazer-suit, with patch pockets?

I anticipate wearing one roughly once per week from April through September in the Philadelphia area. If you were in the same position, what would you do?

Thank you, Style Forum.

I would get Lesser 30292, 8 ounce tropical. The Minnis wheat fresco is, for me, too heavy for the real heat. Mohair is too slick for tan and gab is too hot. Linen and cotton are great but not if you can only have one. The Lesser performs extremely well and can go anywhere.

3 patch is fine if you have only one. Mine is flapped because I have a light tan linen with 3 patch that I wear as an odd jacket. The other is purely a suit for me.

In this case, what would you think for a linen suit color and details, again assuming that a) I got the tropical tan and b) would only get one linen suit as well?

Linen I would do 3 patch, swelled edges, unlined. That's the way I get all mine.

For me it would be linen and if I had a second tan suit, then it would be cotton.

+1 I have olive and navy linen suits in this format and I often use the navy jacket as a blazer.

Something of a lighter weight or treading, possiably a med tan with a slight pattern in it that would be very versatile with my shirts and ties.

Having my first one made up right now: wool gabardine, 3 patch. Don't recall the weight, but probably something like 8-9oz. Of course a "summer suit" in San Francisco doesn't need to be as light as elsewhere.
