I am not underestimating you at all. In fact, I believe that all of us had entertain that thought at least once when we first received something that we really love, especially when we were at your age and started doing this. As in connoisseurs of every art form, one's taste changes as one grows deeper into it. As of this moment, I don't think we (or at least I) have yet studied and versed in this artform well enough to have arrived into a conclusion and definition: this is not the point in your life to declare and conclude anything. Just my humble thoughts.

FWIW, there was a point in life when I have "decided" to settle with one shirt, one shoe, one tailor, one whiskey, one cook ware, one composer, even one video format for my movies. [IMG]

You clearly do not know who you are dealing with here, Naturlaut.

I thought about that. There will be times I need to travel with the shoes, so the trees will get jumbled up. For the same reason, and because of weekends, there may be some days where I don't wear any of them at all, so the day labels won't work. I'm thinking numbers and tags that fold over the tongues.

First of all, you should still use trees when traveling.

Second of all, the day system still works. You just skip the shoes, going on to the correct day, which gives them even more rest from wearing.

You could also name your shoes using a mnemonic. E.g., you can name one pair Anne Hathaway, and slip your feet into them from behind. You can name another pair Cameron Diaz, and then bind them tightly after putting your footsies in. And so on.

I've been away from SF for too long... I think I'll just sit this one out.

Out of curiosity was there a premium for ordering a single custom pair?

Yes, but I won't bring all of my shoes, and I may have to rotate between the ones I packed. The days will get all mixed up.

This will lead to uneven wear. Duh.

This is an impulse, but it's not the impulsive reaction to a new toy. Mafoo's compulsions are deeper.

Mafoo, Bill's suggestion is good. Go with the trees. Or, line them up on a shelf facing out. As you wear them and put them back, return them to the shelf face-in, moving from left to right. When you get to the end, start again, flipping them as you go.

    Now, that's helpful. Thank you.

How about having cloth like name tags sewn onto the inside of the tongues [IMG]

    Glad to be of service.

But in this case, you realize, they won't all be facing the same way in the closet. Can you handle that?

That strikes me as a bit anal.

Well, I didn't say the idea didn't need some tweaking.
