^^^ Maybe starting with five makes sense then.

Under my plan, I think that two batches of five makes sense. In fact, the more I think about it, the more brillianter my plan is.

You order four more to complete the five for Batch 1. After wearing these for a year or so, you can decide whether this is a good idea or not. When you decide that it is a good idea (because we all know you will), then you put in the order for five more for Batch 2. My plan keeps you from ordering two extra shoes right now, which is helpful in case the plan doesn't work out. However, it also allows for the opportunity to extend the life of all the shoes by doubling the amount to ten should you like the plan. Ten actually makes the most sense, even more so than five or seven, should you actually decide to keep these for 50 years.

Certainly, but so what. They are reserve shoes. By design, they are not on the same schedule as the rotating seven. Not only are they worn daily for two months at a time, but they are rested for six, seven eight years as opposed to being worn once every seven days. The beauty of the system is that they are supposed to be on a different wear schedule. So they are the same, but different. Do you see?

    My plan is way better.

I see a smelly @ss reserve shoe with a system where the shoe doesn't air out and dry....he probably should have 2 reserve shoes for the proper hygene...:[IMG]

Here's an alternate plan: Buy a new pair every month or two, then throw the old ones away. That way you don't have to worry about the dings and patina that might eventually make them look different. Also, you wouldn't need to worry about which you wore last. Ride 'em hard, put 'em up wet.

One pair of shoes, one pair of trees. What could be simpler?

You forgot to mention that photo was taken in 1984

1/29/09 10 a.m. However, there was a ten year period when I had left these in NJ and forgotten about them. On the other hand, for there first 4 years of wear they were part of a 5 pair rotation...

It was nice of Grimslade to let you use his office to take the picture.

picture has a strange wicked witch of the east quality to it, but then I'm lucky if I can turn my phone on at all.....

shoot - forgot that the whole calf vs. cord extrapolation.... [IMG]

Those would be much better if they were in shell.

Now that I think of it, maybe foof's concept could work with a more subtle shoe.
