1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

To be honest, driving shoes have never been my thing. Those snake ones are worse. [IMG]

Dehner-style Motor Patrol Boots, MotorCowboy.com [IMG] These guys make some pretty darn good custom boots and shoes made to order at reasonable prices.

Those are made to order in Italy under their petite mesure program, rather than their French-made full bespoke program. At least that's what Xavier Aubercy told me.

They look kind of stained-glassy.. still couldn't say I would wear them, but they might look ok in a display case. ;P

It's shagreen, which is now a stingray skin or what also used to be a shark skin.

It was popular in the Georgian and Deco periods as an expensive but discreet accent for things like watches and cigarette cases.

Sene shoes look good in photos, but they looked kind of ridiculous when I saw them in person. Went to store in Paris near Charvet - not huge, so maybe I missed the good shoes?

Berluti, by contrast, look pretty sweet in person.
