If you could get one pair of jeans in NYC (something unique that you couldn't just pick up at a department store), what would you get? I'm looking to spend about $250.

Thanks a lot for your input.

I'd just walk into Blue in Green* waving a wad of cash and muttering "selvage" over and over again. They'll do you right. Based on obsessive reading of this board and SuFu, I'd lean towards the Studio D'Artisan 103s, but both Pure Blue and Johnbull are can't miss (and slightly less expensive).

Yeah, I would go with either SDA-103 or PBJ-XX-005 but that's my opinion.

The most important step is just go to Blue in Green. Then you can check out the different cuts and styles. The SD-103 and PBJ XX-005 are both slim cuts with low rises. There are more traditional cuts from each of these brands made with the same denim. You can also check out the selection of Samurai, Full Count, Sugarcane, Oni and Warehouse. All have their unique selling points, all are the highest quality, all are super bitchin' in their own ways..

Oh, I forgot to mention, I visit Japan quite often so I most likely would be looking for an American or European brand, unless of course it is cheaper to buy a Japanese pair of jeans in the US (which I would assume may be possible however).

Um, actually, they specialize in Japanese stuff, so you'll probably find everything but what you're after. *** jeans are the ill sh** - if you're there all the time, I don't think you'll find too much that will knock your socks off in NYC, with the possible exception of 5EP. I hate them because they don't make jeans long enough for me, but you can check 'em out at Oak (two locations in Brooklyn - see oaknyc.com). Rag & Bone are the co-holders of the US title; I'm sure you'll find some RB15s at a few stores in NYC - just not sure which ones. New Yorkers? As far as Euro stuff, Julian Red is way sweet, but again, not exactly sure who'll have them. You can also just go to the Dior store and make sure you get an Italian pair instead of a Japanese one, har har...

If you are in NY its the perfect time to visit APC, since there is no other way to try on different sizes.

If you want japanese I would personally go for Oni Blue over PBJ. PBJs are more popular though.

I'll second the question - who carries R&B in NYC? How about 5EP?

Rag & Bone has a stockists section on their website. In NYC, looks like Barney's, Nom de Guerre, Oak, Opening Ceremony, Odin, Steven Alan, and maybe more.
