Are you asking if I have "forum" taste? I assume my taste conforms to some people's on this forum, and doesn't conform with others. I think my taste in shoes is somewhat in the minority now on this forum.

I bought the black tassels a few years ago after seeing a friend wearing black Alden tassels. I liked how he looked, so I purchased a pair. This is a friend who's not on the forums. We go out to dinner together when he visits San Francisco. I don't remember how I came across the EG Picadillys, but those were my go-tos for a very long time. Aldens are a pretty natural fit for me because I've always liked classic American style.
Are those black tassels in your photo calf? Crazy shine if so. They look like shell to me.

I don't own this particular one (but instead 7 or 8 from Carmina, C&J, Cleverley, Vass and Yanko) but if I had to recommend something to someone to cover different outfits and settings it would probably be something like this:

For myself, it would be this one:

A bit controversial but belgians.

Belgian loafers are number one on my list of things I covet but know I’d never wear because they’re just too dainty for my part of the world. I love almost every pair I’ve ever seen (plain or tasselled, not so much with the little leather bow), but when I imagine wearing them I can already hear the laughter of the ruddy nosed Aussie miners who drink in my local.

@dieworkwear all them shits look like orthopedic joints.........I get they are well made blah blah blah but what is the appeal aesthetically?
If Edward Green, JM Weston and Alden look like orthopaedic shoes to you then where exactly do you buy your shoes from?

If i had to limit myself to one, the JM Weston 180. I had a pair in dark brown suede I kept for ages.

Fratelli Rosetti suede loafers circa 1995. They made a good shoe back then and they have held up very well.

As DWW says, it all depends on what you intend to wear them with. I got these from the Armoury back in January, and have been wearing them a lot as a house shoe - splitting time between these and a pair of suede B&L Sagans

For a smarter look - I have the George in black grain from George Cleverley and they are very nice; also the de Rede model from the Anthony Cleverley range.
