As the picture was loading, I'm thinking 'this guy looks great, simply. Well done. After him and Jay Kos, I need a green coat.' Then the shoes came up. OK, expresses his personal style sure, but also expresses the personal style of a dozen pimps on any given seedy street corner. I think it's great to push the bounds of acceptability, but you also have to consider the context in which you're going to be seen. For instance, Jay Allen could make the coolest hypercolor t shirt ever, but it's still a hypercolor t shirt.

Other than the trashy shoes, he's got it great.

Just awful.

I like his way less than I like Thom Browne.

I don't think I could pull off a green coat or shoes on that kind of last, but he looks great in them.

For the record, it's not a green morning coat (can't remember who said that), although it is VERY green. Now, green happens to be my favourite colour and so I find the coat somewhat attractive. Not something I would necessarily wear while wearing a suit, but casual over jeans would be great. The shoes I have issues with. They look like the "Ballband" shoes being sold on ebay.

You have to wonder too if this was shot on St. Pattie's day. If it was, for those who don't like the coat, you have to give the guy a little leeway in clothing choices (at least for the coat) on a day like that.

All in all I think the guy has great style.

For the record I think it looks hideous. I think someone else already said this, but I'll repeat it, if it wasn't The Sartorialist that posted this (and said who it was) most people would say it's some international male ****.

Looks great. Doesn't have to look like everyone else to be well-dressed.

No- I wouldn't wear it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't look great on him.

You guys are really uptight...

I agree. I personally wouldn't wear any of those items apart from the white shirt, but he looks good. Not everyone needs to or should dress like a banker.
I wonder what he'd look like in a suit - maybe he'd give Mory a run for his money?

I'm going to be moving in a month and a half, and I will miss New York. There is a bold vitality in that city that is hard to find elsewhere. Personally, I don't like the outfit. I really like the idea, but his choice in colors (well, and pointy pimp shoes) is what takes it from unique to cartoonish for me. But I still appreciate the willingness to be different, and that I will greatly miss. I can't think of anywhere else in the world I could wear trad with Western boots and a waxed felt tricorne and not feel out of place.

That was me, and I know. Just weird free association from a way-old thread, I guess. And what saves him from pimphood or Int'l Maledom is that he shows an understanding of color and cut, along with a confidence in his taste. He's not just tossing on bright purple and lavender duds that fit either like a box or like a refugee from a Chippendales show. The proportions, the hues, everything works for him. And sort of along touching on what Tiger said, it's not like he's wearing this in church. All IMO, at any rate.

Fantastic outfit. Yes, including the shoes. Don't really know what so many people consider over the top about it. Alright, its not for everyone. Come to think of it, its not for a lot of people. Its obviously a matter of taste and the city or environment you live in but I personally really love the look. In fact, I might just order that coat...

I'm not convinced. Maybe it's because yellow and green are probably the colours I like the least. Nevertheless, the shirt and pants look bland. I really fail to see the creativity or inspiration in this outfit except for the use of hazardous and unusual (maybe for a reason) colours.

You know, I've disagreed with you on a lot of things but we're so in agreement on this that I honestly couldn't have written it any better. This guy always looks amazing...except for the shoes.
