Please regale your OP with tales of not caring. I realize that this thread may soon be delegated to, and defiled in, DT. But I saw an interview with Arnold Schwarzegger last night, and he talked about how he never thought about business failures. Lose a million? Move on.

This is a great skill in this fight/flight world. The ability to calmly "carry on" (to quote a current meme) seems like a superpower. And that's before we start talking about women. There is a cute, skinny, scratchy voiced wild thing that got away . . . I believe it was because I was at a place in my life where I cared too much about closing the deal.

Can Office Space work in business? On the prowl?

    Witness.

Its a fine balance; to appear not to care and to be able to compartmentalize enough that failures don't weigh you down is one thing. When you get to a point of genuine apathy then you're going to end up hating your life, if your failures don't hurt then you will never learn; if you genuinely don't care if a woman is interested or not, then when you sleep with her its going to mean a whole lot less.

I mastered apathy, simply not giving a shit for a good few years, but that's a bloody hard place to come back from. To begin to care again makes you incredibly vulnerable and those first few failures (in love, life or business) knock the living crap out of you. On the other hand if you honestly don't care about how good your career is, how your love life is going and all that stuff, then you're going to be pretty damn unfulfilled.

I'd stick with being a looser who cares too much over one who doesn't care enough about stuff.

You're born, you take shit, you die. That's about it.

There's not much I truly give a shit about. You and this thread are two of them.

I care, but I don't want to be too vulnerable.
