Omission of Country of Origin tag legal?

Is it legal to omit the CoO tag? I bought a few sweaters from the UK, which claims 100% british wool but is highly unlikely made in the UK given the very low price tag.

You don't say where you are. The tags are needed in the EU .

I know that in America, origin tags are a must. Not so sure about other countries though. Be aware though that such tags may be hidden or placed in extremely obscure locations and may be hard to locate. Marc Jacobs was such a culprit....hiding the "Made in......" portion somewhere in the print design or something like that.

if the item is new and it is not labeled then reasons suggest their manufacturing origin to be either in China or India. Don't fool yourself otherwise.

I reside in the EU. After a thorough search I found a quality inspection label with Chinese symbols
