BUT -- a question of my own...

RRDS is the nicest jean that I own. I also enjoy my 5EP Low Down Boot resin, but I prefer the lower rise (around 10") on the RRDS. As you can see, I like somewhat relaxed fitting jeans. Both are boot cut, but that's not necessary. I have a pair of APC NS cords and love them, but I'm not interested in wearing something that slim every day. So, needs to be more relaxed than APC NS.

For my next purchase, I'd like to buy dry selvedge...the 5EP's weren't raw and breaking them in is great, but I want to break in another pair of raw jeans.

So:

- 10" rise or so
- somewhat relaxed fit.
- dry, selvedge

What am I buying? Which jeans fit this?

Obvious answer = SSDS

SSDS might be a little too slim around the ankle for me, and I should have mentioned, although I am enamored with the Nudies, I wouldn't mind trying another brand. I intend to buy the 5EP x SF jeans, and those are somewhat similar.

SSDS are huge around the ankle... I had to have mine tailored because they were too big. If you want another brand and want raw jeans, you could look at something like the KMW 1950.

I'm neither LAGuy nor BrianSD, but I wear a 30 waist in pretty much all jeans, and this is what a size 30 APC New Standard looks like on me after months of wear and a couple washes: http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...wayw0209-1.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...wayw0209-2.jpg For reference, a decent shot of the fit of my RRDG in size 31 (which is one size greater than I "should" wear in Ralfs, I wanted these particularly loose): http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...wayw0323-1.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...wayw0323-2.jpg I have to say, my experience doesn't quite jive with Brian's. You can tell from the pics, I could probably have gone down to a size 28 (so, sizing down 2 from my normal jean size) and it would have been just a little tight, and given how much these stretch, that wouldn't have been a problem at all.

Another jean that I've tried on and liked was the RB11, though it wasn't dry and the back pockets were offputting.

KMW 1950 looks interesting ... what is the rise? Might be higher than 10"

Additionally, I am a 32x32 in both the 5EP LDB and RRDS, so I'm presuming I'll keep that size wherever I go.

edit: Context lists the KMW 1950 AWA rise at 10.5" and the leg opening at 9. Difference between RRDS is .5" in rise.

Hmm...this is certainly a match, but I'd like to know some other suggestions.

I have a question about getting Jeans hemmed. I just bought a pair of hipsters last night from Denim Bar, I bought them in 32x34, but typically I am a 30 inseam and am concerned about them being ridiculously long and looking silly on me. I am thinking getting them tailored to a 32" inseam right away and then see what they do. Does anyone think this is a bad idea? What are your suggestions for someone with short legs like mine?

I answered your question in the other thread, it's fine as long as you won't have to hem it again. I would personally hem it to about 1" longer than you think you want it to be if you intend to wash them.

Yeah looks like the 2010 isn't tapered like the 1950, but neither of them are very relaxed.

Depends how relaxed you want them. I'd say size down one if you aren't going to wash them soon, but then again I prefer my jeans to be more fitted.
