Oki Ni Vat and Customs Question

I remember this being discussed before, but search brings up nothing as 'oki, ni & vat' are all 3 letters or less.

Do I need to email Oki Ni prior to ordering to get VAT exemptions applied to my account? or do I have to order and then contact them to remove VAT? Has anybody done this successfully? I heard some things before how Oki Ni played dumb on refunding VAT which is stupid.

Also, am I correct in assuming that if im buying 1000gbp worth of stuff...they should subtract 20% VAT to make it 800gbp...but I'll have to pay 10% customs fees on the value which would be about 100gbp? So pretty much I should take 10% whatever price I'm seeing right now on Oki Ni?

Trying to make sure I have this right before I purchase anything. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Yeah, I got a response too.

However, do not subtract 20% from the price seen. They subtract 20% from the actual price of the item, before their markup.

Dammit I hate finding something I like overseas

I want to order an item from Italy, the item is under $200 which in my case I have noticed no customs problems with items under 200. Buuuuut it states that for E.U. customers the VAT is not applied so even if the item is under 200, will I will still get charged with customs?

^ Sounds strange, why would EU customers be exempt from paying VAT if it's from Italy? You can get charged by customs regardless of whether VAT was included in the price.
