Ok to get my suit trousers just pressed and not dry-cleaned?

The crease has lost its edge. If my suit isn't dirty (I've learned here that dry-cleaning beats up a suit), can I have the dry cleaner just press the trousers?

You can, but I think that there has been danger attributed to this - invisible dirt can get pressed in, and actually damage the fabric.

Happy to be corrected if wrong about this.

Be careful - if there is any dirt at all on the suit - it will get pressed in. Small particles of dirt can act like small razors when pressed that hard.

If they merely need pressing then get an iron and do it yourself regularly.

If they are dirty or marked then 'no' - they need to be cleaned.

Thanks all. I'll probably gets some more wear out of it, then dry clean it, and hang it up until fall, it's pretty heavy fabric.
