OK to damp cloth clean daily?

I was wondering if wiping shoes (calfskin and cordovan) with a damp cloth after each daily wear damages the leather? Or is it simply enough to wipe down the shoe with a dry cloth after each daily wear?

It's great for cordovan, and this is what i do, but I wouldn't do it for shell.

Perfectly fine and recommended procedure to wipe dirt and dust off your leather after each wearing.
As long as the cloth is only damp and you are not saturating the leather with water, you're fine.
Periodically apply leather lotion/conditioner (once per month or two) to maintain the elasticity.
Polishing need not be done after each wearing. but a good brushing and buffing will do.
For the soles, use a different damp cloth with a drop of dishwashing liquid worked into the cloth.
This helps remove dirt and bacteria microbes from the sole. One never knows what one stepped on during the course of a days wearing.

Wow, I do this daily and figured it was a sin I would always keep quiet. I just assumed it was awful for the shoes.

To be 100% honest, I use baby wipes. They seem to do the trick and have lots of conditioners in them. It is probably stupid thinking, but I figured if they were meant to keep a baby's bottom moisturized, they might be better than a regular damp cloth.

I don't scrub them, just wipe off the day's junk. Occasionally, I will clean the soles a bit more. Usually prior to conditioning/shining.
