Greetings from TN

I'm interested in a new bag. I just picked up a Filson briefcase (nice) to add to my wife's 15yo duffle. I'm considering adding the LV Duffle to the mix for weekends and what not. My question...Is the LV branded stuff too in your face? I believe the quality to be high (as well as the cost). They seem to age graceflully. This is great for a carryon. Can the elegant man pull it off? Or, is this pretty boy?

Here's the example...

For me, LV luggage, bags, etc. are a bit much. I really don't like external branding on much of anything. Having said that, I LOVE the print ad campaign - especially the Keith Richards one, which I find myself transfixed by every time I see it in a magazine.

Maybe because he looks so disgusting and his skin is similar to that of dried, crusty leather.

The standard LV monogram and Damier canvas patterns have been classics for over 100 years now.

if you like it, go for it. general consensus, i think, is that LV is well made, even if on the higher end of price. You will get many people on this forum to tell you there are other brands that cost the same or less that make an equal to or better product. Nowadays, buying LV does nothing to set you apart. You'll see a ton of people at the airport carrying some sort of LV. To me, aside from appreciating it's a nice bag, it indicates to me that the owner wants some sort of attention or recognition that he/she can afford LV (even if that means being in debt and letting it sit on a credit card)...not to imply anything about the OP, of course. But as pointed above, it is considered a "classic."

Prefer the Coppola ad. Sort of... cheesy.

The quality on LV is not under question, I think they are really well made.

Doesn't change the fact that the gaudier designs are cheeseball.

I like Epi though.

Yeah, Epi is nice, as is the Taiga leather...

I love the gorbachev ads too, very cool.

As far as LV stuff itself, I think the new graphite damier check stuff is pretty cool. Monogram pattern is too much for me.

They should have replaced the scar on Gorby's forehead with an "LV". You know, the way that Mercedes did with its logo in place of Marilyn Monroe's mole.

- even better when the bags show age (WEAR & TEAR) not babied..
- I kill for a set of old & abused monogram luggage

I will buy this antique trunk from a local store as soon as I have the spare cash for it.

It was originally purchased in the 1920's and comes with the original internal hardware. There were more pieces in the same condition (they came from an South American old money estate), but were bought up by LV for their archives.
