I have to put my 2 cents in here... I think it has more to do with advertising and programming than anything else. Certain brands have achieved a level of "panache" that others haven't, and the average person believes that:
A) If it costs more it's worth more
B) Names impress people
C) Money is power
If people believe that something is worth X amount, they'll pay it. If they don't....well... I kind of get the price of Kiton, but I've never understood why people pay for Boss...
The bottom line is that when you're spending that kind of money, you should be doing so because it makes you happy or feel better, not because of the label. I have a closet full of Pal Zileri, not because of the label per se, but because they fit me very well off the rack, and my wife thinks I look sexier in them than any of my other suits.... Just wish she's stop ripping them off my body!
