I am 25 yrs old almost 26 and still have extremely oily skin. This causes me to get break out and it drives me crazy! I thought I would be over this at this age. I recently just had a huge zit on the tip of my nose! Its embarrassing and I dont know what to do anymore. I dont have health insurance so I cant go to a Dermatologist. I wash my face twice a day with face wash that costs me like $14/ pop and is 10% benzoyl peroxide. I also use that clearasil spot treatment that is also 10& benzoyl peroxide.

With all of this my face, especially my nose gets incredily oily throughout the day. I usually go to the bathroom and wipe it with tissue paper. Its ridiculous at this point in my life. Can you guys sympathize or give me any advice?

Can anyone comment on this? I get oily skin throughout the day. Looking for a moisturizer that controls or gets rid of oil and help prevent acne. Somthing I can fnd at a target or walmart would be great

Using benzoyl peroxide can dry your face out, and actually cause your skin to overcompensate by producing even more oils. I'd say cut out the harsh and abrasive cleansers--stick to something mild, like cetaphil--and moisturize with natural oils, like jojoba or macadamia nut, that contain palmitoleic acid, the most prominent ***** acid found in our own, natural, sebaceous glands.

Definitely use a less harsh cleanser, something without benzoyl peroxide. I recommend using the spot treatment on specific spots only, and not in a large area, since this will just over-dry your skin and yes, cause your skin to over produce oil. Unfortunately, if you're prone to being oily and have larger pores, it's probably going to stay that way for a while. The only real thing you can do is control it with mattifying lotions (something with clay in it), exfoliate reguarly, and moisturize well before bed time. If you're acne prone, I suggest finding some kind of oil free hydrator at night, or else maybe finding some kind of oil-balancing essential oil serum that you can wear. I know brands like Dr. Haushka, Kiehl's, and Decleor have oils that in fact help to restore the moisture balance in your skin (without clogging pores), helping you to produce less oil.

Also, never underestimate the remedying qualities of fresh air and healthy sun exposure.

It's pricey but the oil absorbing lotion from La Mer works really well. I have oily skin as well and ever since using it I've been getting almost no pimples and my skin has been a lot better.

The Shiseido Men antishine cream is alright too. But don't take my word for it, because I get to use it free - by taking heaps of samples from Shiseido friend

if your skin is that oily you clearly do not need a moisturizer. get more sun. try roaccutane.

For a clean face, you gotta start with basics.

-Wash your face with a decent cleanser, natural if possible
-Use a soft towel and get your dead skin off and pores cleaned out
-Wash again
-dry with clean towel
-My personal strategy is to use virgin or expeller pressed coconut oil. (anti fungal/microbial/bacterial/good for overall health, read The Coconut Oil Miracle). The good oil will help to prevent your skin from needing to produce your own dirty oil.

-wash pillow case, bed sheet and blanket frequently (twice weekly if you can)

Having had pretty bad acne all my teen life into my 20's After doing all of these things, I haven't had one pimple for weeks. My face is now white, shiny and CLEAN. Before I did this, my face used to become so dirty/oily just a few hours after washing my face. I would wipe it and it just felt disgusting, now when I wipe my face many many hours after washing my face, it is clean as hell and it is just coconut oil. I put this stuff all over my body and take coconut oil shots for great health.

I usually don't recommend "natural" remedies, but give witch hazel a try, make sure to get one without alcohol though. Humphreys is the brand I use...
