is it needed?

i bought a pair of boots recently and they were really tight, so i stepped into the bathtub full of water with them and stretched them out and now they fit fine.

now i put some oil on the outer leather to keep it from drying out, but what about the insides? do the same?

I have never found it necessary top oil the inside of leather shoes and typically, I get well over 12 years of wear (to include many heel repairs and resolings!) out of each pair.

Well, I've never found it necessary to hot soak a pair of shoes, either, so this guy's obviously got special needs.

My section sergeant in basic made md do this on new kit day after I complained my boots hurt my feet. Stretched it out mostly around the ankle/heel and prevented new boot rubbing.

I have never felt a need to do it with civilian boots but I guess it's a valid tactic.
