Kinda depends on what you view as “reasonable” but for under $1K in NYC off the top of my head:I'm going to a Newport, RI wedding in three weeks. I'd realistically only have one weekend to find a suit in NYC. What are my reasonably priced options besides suitsupply?
Nantucket Reds, maybe? Thanks, any advice for beach wedding attire? Linen and light colors?
It's hard to distinguish black from true midnight blue. Especially in photos. With the naked eye, the latter looks like black with a bluish undertone. And it looks darker, or richer/deeper, than black. True black has a more greenish undertone and less depth than midnight blue. You can more easily tell the two apart when there's some nearby blue or pink as references. Next to blue, the midnight blue will pop compared to the black. Next to pink, the black will. Black loves pink.Anyone ever go to a wedding with groom wearing midnight blue tuxedo and groomsmen wearing black? trying to think if that works or if its too close (and only photos I'm finding are like, blue/navy tuxedos, not midnight blue). Would really appreciate if anyone has / has any photos
Thank you! I appreciate that. I think my concern was that it would fall into that realm of looking like you tried to match colors but failed. Bridesmaids will be wearing various shades of slate-ish blue, but I don't think that's going to visually connect so much. It's hard to distinguish black from true midnight blue. Especially in photos. On the other side, a blue dinner jacket that's lighter than true navy can be very elegant. A Galliano Caraceni on Gabriele Ferzetti in the 50s.
Everything else is quite formal. Normally you'd go for matching formality shoes - like you said, black cap toe oxfords.Beach wedding (on the sand) this summer (I'm the groom). Immediate family only and dress for them will be casual. Current plan for me is single breasted navy suit in Minnis Fresco, white shirt w/french cuffs, white pocket square and either a traditional wedding tie or one of my fiance's grandfathers Hermes ties (taking a look this weekend).
Seeking advice on shoes, setting is a no cars allowed island where I'll take a golf cart to the beach access and walk a hundred or so yards. Considering black espadrilles, which would be the practical choice but unsure about the congruency with the rest of it. It seems like some kind of slip on loafer, but unsure of what exactly. We'll walk back and reception is at country club where I'll probably change to black or dark brown oxford cap.
I personally really like the look of dark brown suede (derbys or oxfords) with a navy suit. To my eye, the suede makes the shoe a bit more casual so you can use them with odd trousers easily.I'm getting married at the end of May. We are doing a micro wedding with 15 people. The ceremony will be in a church, pictures in a garden of an estate, and dinner outside in my parents back yard. I'll be wearing a navy fresco suit. I'm looking for a pair of shoes to go with the outfit and occasion. I have a pair of black cap toe oxfords and wanted to do something a little different and something that I could wear with a suit or sport coat and odd trousers in the future.
I've considered sleeker derbies (TLB Mallorca NST Derby in brown or dark brown), loafers (TLB Mallorca Tassel Loafer in black or dark brown), and oxfords (TLB Mallorca Brogue Balmoral Oxford with Wing Tip in dark brown). I'd like to stick with TLB Mallorca and will likely do a custom make up for Rendenbach soles and leather selection. Perhaps mixing in suede or broguing can bring down the formality of the oxford for use with odd trousers and a sport coat. I'd consider any other suggestions as well. Thanks!
