Thank you for your reply. I’m trying to contact Mario via Facebook like you did. I want an unpolished cherry wood solid stick umbrella, but their site doesn’t have it so I’ll ask if they have some not put online. I see one at NMWA but I’d prefer a patterned canopy this time around.

I hope Mario does not play dumb when I ask him to remove the IVA tax because I don’t have to pay such tax if I live outside of EU. My FM order removed the IVA automatically, I don’t see why Talarico wouldn’t.
Try contact Sartoria Margutti. They could make one for you via Talarico.

My choice was this one.

Managed to get ahold of Mario Talarico himself. The way I did it was I added an umbrella on cart, went to checkout, and did not complete it. He emailed me and sent me the link if I want to try again. I then asked him about IVA, and he said he'd cancel the VAT for me. Why this is not automatic is up for speculation. I did ask about sold stick cherry wood umbrellas and he said he'll make some soon.

I contacted Sartoria Margutti, they were very helpful but the shipping fee was obscene! (58 Euros) They had one solid cherry, and I believe it's the same model as yours. Beautiful umbrella, but seeing as I already have a folding umbrella in blue, and an upcoming Hertault in dark blue, I'd rather get a different color this time.

The part you push up to deploy the umbrella.
Ah, thank you for that.

I have no issue with plastic as opposed to metal. There are pros and cons to each. Personally, I'd rather a plastic bit break, since it can be replaced, that metal scratch the wooden stick. But I can see the benefits of a metal runner.

When I have bought Talaricos from their physical shop, I have paid around 60 euro for shipping to the US, so I am not sure 58 ought to be a deal breaker necessarily. Umbrellas are just awkward and delicate to ship.

Gents, I wonder. For those who have nicer umbrellas, how do you deal with situations where you're asked to leave your umbrella in the communal bucket? Even in fancy places where I live, people mostly use garbage umbrellas and the idea where an umbrella can be well made is rather foreign.

Is there a coat rack or cloakroom?

Welp. I tried to buy an umbrella from Sartoria Margutti. They do not know the rules. They won't remove the VAT even though I'm outside EU. Either incompetent or scammer. I don't recommend this place if you're based out of the EU.

Interestingly enough, Sartoria Margutti backtracked with the following email. This is a good lesson to learn. Knowledge is key; accept no bullshit.

Well done, a boon for all potential customers to his site, and for him too though he may not realize it yet.

My Heurtault is finally complete! Michel sent me the pictures. The ribs are Japanese made from the 1970s. It will ship this Monday. I’m so excited!
