Since I discovered Kerrygold unsalted, that's all I use in my sauces now. So much better than standard American butter. And I can get it cheap AF on sale at Harris Teeter. (Plus they carry it at Costco now. HT sale is still cheaper.)

I can't speak for Kerrygold cheese though. My idea of good cheese is whatever they put in Cheez-Its. Those things are addicting.

Kerry gold unsalted butter is great and is a staple for me from Costco.

Another Costco staple is Cabot reserve 3 year cheddar (the one in black wrapping). So inexpensive and so good.

i also like their big tubs of greek feta. Blanking on the brand name but its great.

The Cabot is 24 months, and honestly, at double the price of the seriously sharp and extra sharp, I don't think it is that much better. I would say seriously sharp is their best, but it is too inconsistent (every now and then I get a block and it doesn't across as very sharp at all), so I've been sticking to extra.

Is the 24 month the one with the black wrapper? If so, i stand corrected.

Edit: nevermind... i just checked and it is 3 year and I stand by it being very good. Crumbly with some crystals in it. Here is a pic:

Hmmm the one we have is a black wrapper and 2 year. I guess we got it at Sam's not Costco.

Every once and a while I buy a block of salted Kerrygold if I know I am going to be eating buttered bread. Is it really worth it for unsalted butter that mostly gets melted or baked in to things?

Bonus points for baking/buying fresh soda bread around St. Patrick's day and smearing it with kerrygold.

GTFO with Vermont cheese.

BC, I’m revoking your midwest heritage card.

Whatever. I'm a cheap bastard, and down here I can keep Cabot cheap. Those 2lb blocks are like $7 at Sam's. I go through at least one a week. That's just my baseline cheese habit.

I do have some nice Wisconsin cheddar with hatch chilis, a proper aged cheddar (13 years), goat, and gouda all from Wisconsin right now.

Currently having a late brunch of baguette, cold chicken, and blackcurrant jam with wine before picking up some tailoring.

Honestly though, the French bakery near me makes such great bread that you might as well eat it plain.

i only buy unsalted butter. If i want salt on it for bread i sprinkle it with salt.

Almost out of rillettes so going to have to stop at Costco and get one of those huge pork butts. Might be time to make some more cochinita pibil too.
