I’m going to say crawfish also.

a crawfish boil makes sense to me. I actually like the idea of it and the act of making a bunch of food to feed a crowd in a casual way. A lobster boil makes sense to me as well.

Piob said it best upchain (i am paraphrasing) - its not that lobster is inherently bad. In fact it can be great. it is the automatic association that it is good and special and fancy and expensive regardless of how good it actually is as well as its use as a way to signal luxury.

You have to eat like 40 lbs of crawfish to get full because you’re burning more calories peeling it then you get fro eating it.

That's like pistachios

There is a greek seafood place nearby that often does langoustines as a special when they can get a quality product. They are split down the middle and grilled on charcoal with lemon, olive oil, and a touch or oregano. If I could source langoustines of similar quality i could make them at home pretty easily but that hasn't happened yet. They charge by the pound but you order by the piece.

I have eaten more of them than i care to admit there for dinner with nothing else but gin martinis. The bill is always sobering but I have never once regretted it.

A bag of pistachios and a bag of cherries are what we pack for snacks on the beach.

Also, I've always felt filet mignon is way overrated and just social signaling for a lot of people. Yes, it's very tender if cooked properly (which is not a given,) but it so lacks flavour it's traditionally sauces to hell an back.

Overrated, maybe, but I do enjoy a good well sauced filet.

Been quite a while...I should seek one out.

Remember reading somewhere that one of the most deadly prison riots of the 19th century was in New England because the inmates were so ******* tired of being fed lobster. It was just considered trash bycatch in those days.
