Anyone watching Dark Crystal? I’m two episodes in and the visuals are as amazing as you would suspect. Story is a little slow, but I am sticking I’m with it to see if things pick up.

Most of all I’m floored it even got made. 2019 and we are getting a full length series made with puppets. They could have so easily gone the CGI route but using actual puppets gives the show a soul it wouldn’t have had otherwise.

It's also ridiculous the number of live action Batman origin stories/flashbacks we've had

-Burton
-Schumacher
-Nolan
-That ****** Gotham show
-DCEU
-Now DC Black Label

At least Marvel did the sensible thing with Spiderman and skipped the uncle murder scene

I thought that was a good move on Marvel’s part, too, but as JM said, I hope they start making it feel integral to his character again.

I’m glad they skipped the origin story. Hopefully more superhero films do so in the future as the public gains better understanding of who these characters are.

So yes skipping the origin story is fine. Removing the impact of Uncle Ben’s death in your narrative is not.

Take Batman. You can skip showing the origin story on the big screen. You just can’t ignore in your narrative that the death of his parents are a core part of what makes Batman who he is. Uncle Ben is is to Peter Parker what the Wayne’s deaths are to Batman.

The whole Tony fanboy angle in the MCU does other disservices to Parker’s character, but I won’t get into them right now. Marvel’s got a take on Parker that’s wildly popular. No hate on them for it. I just find this version of Parker somewhat removed from who he really is.

Damn sorry man. I was about to give away the secret to Superman's one weakness so I'm glad you gave me a heads up on the no-spoilers rule. (Hint though....it involves his dick.)

Hollywood Reporter ruined it for me. They didn't say "spoilers ahead" anywhere here. I just casually walked into them.

Then again, is it really a spoiler? Were you really going to say to yourself "Oh my god, I can't believe Joker's family members were Wayne family servants? This changes everything!"

I saw Mallrats- Brodie explained it:

"the only way he could bang normal chicks is if he wears a kryptonite condom, but that would kill him."

You should get into these disservices, because it sounds interesting. I guess I didn’t mind it, as it seemed likely a tech-nerd high school kid would be wowed by Tony Stark. Also, the bit with the Stark suit (or whatever it’s called — the one with the arms) jibed with the comics, and I was really hoping they were setting things up for the eventual falling out that happened afterwards.

Joker is getting some negative reviews from major outlets

They say the performance and photography are good, but there's not much after that
