That’s correct. When Marvel sold the complete film rights to Spider-Man they retained the merch rights.

I was always curious how that worked with the films. Like if they sold a Spider-Man figurine in packaging that featured Andrew Garfield, Sony didn’t get a cut of that?

The next live action Spider-Man movie is going to tank from the fan hate and backlash. If Sony really thinks they’re going to be doing $1B Spider-Man movies they’re out of their mind.

Hopefully they get a great filmmaker on the next spiderman project, like Michael Bay or Tommy Wiseau.

I agree on both, and for what it's worth, I liked Garfield as Spidey. I'm just saying that I didn't see a **** ton of merch from those movies like I have with the MCU ones.
