The slow burn was slowly putting me to sleep.
Love the show overall, but I guess that's the difference between coming in cold, and being a diehard of the graphic novels.

Like Mouse said, that story is a bit of an outlier even in Sandman. It doesn't surprise me that some people don't like it.

It leans heavier into horror than any other story from Sandman. Not even close. I always expected the episode to be divisive for people unfamiliar with the source material.

Also pretty ballsy doing a bottle episode in Season 1, and early in the season too. I guess it played in the quest for the ruby but it definitely kept the plot momentum low.

Speaking of horror, I wonder if they'll do any of the Swamp Thing stuff. That was a cool story line but seems like they'd need the rights to it. Also just a shitload of background for it to make any sense, so it'd definitely be a later season thing. But just imagine a True Detective season 1 noir approach in this universe. It'd be awesome.

Pretty little liars on HBOMax is, to my shock, a really a good show. It is full of 90s horror nostalgia, and the characters are very well developed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm going to watch it, but I did read a review that said it wasn't very funny, which seems like a problem for a show that's supposed to be a comedy.

Of course, my wife says she wants to watch it with me, so I expect I won't actually get to see it until about June 2024. We still haven't watched Ms. Marvel or Strange New Worlds.

Or season 2 of Stranger Things...

Watched the first episode of She Hulk. It was ok. The writing wasn’t very strong and the pacing felt off. The problem wasn’t really the humor. I’ll stick with it and see where the show goes because I’m a fan of the character.

I wonder how much interest these shows are going to attract from people who aren't comic-mega fans. Most people probably haven't even heard of She-Hulk much less have a fondness for the character. I was reasonably into comics and never got into basically any of the 3rd and 4th tier characters that they're building series around now.

If the content is good people will watch but I'm definitely starting to feel Marvel fatigue. Especially when everything is so interconnected. They need more stand alone stuff, there's just SO MUCH now that you get completely lost if you miss anything.

Yeah. I mean there are a few outstanding runs of She-Hulk, but she’s never been a huge character for Marvel. I’ve said before some of my favorite comic characters are tier 3 and 4... Don’t get me started on my love for Starman.

Disney/Marvel is just going through the motions till they launch the Fantastic Four and X-Men (mutants). Those are the two aces they have left to play.

The whole MCU is going to become heavy into mutants once those characters come into play. Endless story material.

I was a huge X-Men fan but haven't bothered to see most of the movies just because of bad reviews. Hopefully Marvel saves it now that they have the rights.

Also they need a new Wolverine. Jackman was just perfect for that and I don't envy whoever has to step in to that role.

I wonder if they'll redo some of the classic stories that got fucked up by Fox. Dark Phoenix etc.

Fox made a lot of mistakes with the X-Men, but they also manged to do a couple of good things. Days Of Future Past was good and Logan was fantastic.

Logan was great. First Class was very good. Haven't seen Days of Future Past, maybe I'll put it on the list.
