Connery was like no other. Agree Hardy is too old. They need to grab someone in their early to mid-30s and can have a nice 10-15 year run while being credible.

Am I the only one who thought the Dune trailer looked like garbage?

Just a general dislike, or was there something specific about it that you thought was bad? I re-read the book a few years back, and while I don't have a super sharp memory on all the details, what I saw in the trailer looked both reasonably faithful to the source material and pretty interesting as a movie.

To be honest, I don't think I would have liked the trailer in any case. I just don't think Dune can be made into an entertaining film, period. And I'm a huge fan of the books.

You may be right about it being undoable. And a trailer is no indication of the movie quality, since I've seen some great trailers for **** movies. That said, it looks like it should be better than the Dune miniseries, and there's no way it could possibly be worse than the Lynch movie, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

I read the book for the first time in lockdown, anxious to see how it compared to the film, and was surprised to find just how little description there was. Mostly, it seemed like a book about having meetings.

Still pretty solid, though.

The new trailer looks good, though I worry about too much cgi. It’d be nice if they could mix some real things (like models) in there, I guess — just so your brain’ll have something to latch onto.

Also, the Lynch version was singular and awesome, what are you talking about? I liked it even more after reading the book and discovering most of the compelling things were his invention.

Seriously, you thought the Dune trailer looked “like garbage”?

I mean whether the book can be adapted or not, it looks like a pretty amazing film.
