My wife and daughter are in Florida right now, and are going to Disney World tomorrow. My wife asked me, "What's the status of Spider Man in Disney?" So I started to explain how Sony has the live action rights, but has a profit sharing agreement with Marvel Studios, which is owned by Disney, so he can appear in MCU movies, but Sony didn't share the rights to animated material, which is why the Miles Morales movies are produced in-house, at which point she cut me off and said, "I don't care about any of that. All I want to know is, can we buy a Spiderman t-shirt when we go to the Marvel store in Disney Springs tomorrow?"

Beats me, woman. I don't know who owns the merchandise rights.
Well you better find out!

I’m enjoying Ryan Reynolds try and pull a The Rock on the MCU. Hype a bunch of cameos and try to force the leadership to go along with his mindspace.

I was harsh on D&W in my prior post. Overall it was a fun movie. I just don’t see how anyone couldn’t see this happening.

Ryan: wouldn’t it be great if we got a Logan style send off for Wesley’s Blade?

How about that Gambit cameo based on a movie that never got made? Should he be folded into the MCU?

Elektra? Yea the old Daredevil wasn’t great and she was the worst part but let’s roll with it. Cause reasons.

It’s all absurd.

It's just too easy to throw a bunch of cameos into a multiverse movie. They can't help themselves.

I read somewhere that Reynolds and the head writer just sat down and made a list of all the old superhero movies. Basically everything they could think of. Then, after the list got up to about 50 or so, they just started calling people and asking if they'd do it. The ones who said yes were in. So I think it's less Reynolds trying to bend Marvel Studios to his will and more, "this could be funny, let's roll with it and see where it goes."

Apparently Nicholas Cage wasn't interested in doing Ghost Rider, btw.

Only when other ppl post. It's okay for him to spoil everything.

Yeah I was wrong and fixed it. I stand by me stance on spoilers even if I occasionally **** up.

Even though I loved seeing that guy do the cameo for the character whose movie didn't get made even though it was apparently a passion project of that guy for a number of years, I must say that the cameo showed me why that movie never got made. I'm not sure that's a character that translates that well to live action. I didn't even think the character worked that well in X-Men '97.

All the cameos seem like an excuse for poor writing. Just slap in some dude who played a minor Marvel character 10 years ago and run with it.

(you can just imagine the number of parties I don't get invited to...)
