Whelp...I caught the first two episodes of Locke & Key, the highly-anticipated (by me) Netflix series written by Joe Hill, the author of the graphic novels. And it kinda sucked. I fished around for some early reviews, and they all seemed to confirm the weaknesses evident in the first episodes would continue: irrational characters and too little focus on the magical aspects (really fresh and interesting in the source material) in favor of teen high school drama, served up in what’s hardening into a bland Netflix mono-style.

Anyone seen the whole thing?

I did, maybe 5 out of 10. Not great, but I found it watchable and mildly entertaining.

New Batman “spy shots.” Putting them in spoilers tags, but they are fairly safe to view.

I went through the first couple episodes of the third season of "Castlevania" on Netflix today. Very good, I'd say considerably better than the previous two seasons. It's basically straight horror, a lot of fun. And the animation improved!

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
