I think it's a huge business mistake to do a female 007.

Much of the existing fanbase will not rush out to theaters to see this one. The appeal of Bond is this WASP guy with inherited money who drives fancy cars and wears fancy suits, outsmarts supervillains and has sex with a lot of women. It's aspirational stuff. Male fantasy.

Not seeing how the "woke" crowd will replace the droves of built-in fans who are expecting the above and will not be eager to see the movie in theaters.

Ghostbusters 2016 was a flop and Ocean's Eight couldn't dethrone the original 20-year old movie at the box office (when tickets were a fraction of the price and there were 1000 less U.S. theaters in existence)

But if they want lower box office numbers, then go for it.

I agree the formula requires a man, unless you want to make a totally different movie. It can only work if there’s nothing else in cinema at that time. Though I think they will kill her off in this movie; one and done.

It’s not like they’re turning James Bond into Jane Bond. They’re given the 007 designation to another agent and using James to save the day. The next James Bond will still probably be a male.

Yeah but they’re going to use the 007 logo in marketing and fans will roll their eyes.

007 is pretty outdated at this point. The Cold War is over and every villain is predictable. The producers went “dark” for the Craig movies. What do they do now? Reboot with a lighter hearted tone?

Aside from Skyfall and Casino Royale, the original three Bourne movies and the most recent MI movies have been better.

Not gonna lie, that trailer for The King's Man gets me a little tingly inside.

That's why it needs modern reboot, this is pretty much on point

Honestly, the whole climate has me unable to distinguish whether wojt supports this video at face value, for parody, or what.

hahaha as it's intended, as a parody

Though frankly jrd617 has a point that the original is also a bit played out so maybe that's not a huge loss. With luck it will be one and done with that girl and next bond will go back to the old format. Maybe a really good actor/director combo can give us 1-2 more good movies. Though probably not.

Yup. Isn’t this just for Danial’s final film? Bond is older and retired. The story takes place after a new agent has taken over as 007. It’s something new to the franchise and I like it.

Have they given any indication that this woman will be the new 007 for movies moving forward? I’d be surprised if they made that kind of move. 007 = Bond. That’s what the current franchise is. If they want a permanent female in the roll that would likely come after a full franchise reboot.

Edit: tl:dr Keep your panties out of a bunch till we hear plans for the future of the franchise once Daniel Craig leaves.
