Just saw the movie. I'm not sure what all the hate is about other than it has a much darker tone than a standard Superman or comic book movie. There were a few scenes that I don't understand the point or why it was included(the desert scene is one example) but overall the movie was still enjoyable. I saw it in the standard 70mm but will probably watch it in IMAX next weekend.

Edit: I meant to say standard theater not standard 70mm.

Again, not saying this is the only reason why the critics hated it but I do think since Marvel has pretty much standardized their style of CBM that some might be influenced by it.

So what exactly is a 70mm, IMAX and IMAX 70mm? I clicked on that link but the standard isn't 70mm from what I understand, is IMAX 70mm the biggest in that gif from the link?

When it first came out it was 65mm (70mm) film moving horizontally through a projector giving you an enormous image. In the old days you could go to a 35mm, 70mm or imax screening.

Now, I'm not so sure what it means.

Sure it has some WTF moments where the scenes sort of jump around and they could've done a better job with some of the sequences, but overall I enjoyed it. i have some nitpicks on the story, but i'll wait for some more to see it before we discuss.

Thanks for the link Willy but I am still confused if I were honest

Can't wait for SFers reviews on the film.

Seeing it Monday.

I'm interested to see the eventual R-rated Director's Cut also. I wonder if the additional footage will help with the reported editing/pacing problems or if it'll just be even more bloated.

Is this gonna jump to R because Batman violently beats the crap out of people, or because Superman is sexing up Lois in the bathtub? (based assumptions of the trailers - have not seen movie yet)

If he ends up getting too excited he'd tear right thru the girl. :D

The R version better not have the CGI-ed coverup of Amy Adams nips in the tub.

My spoiler free thoughts:

1) Ben Affleck is great in this movie. He is an amazing Batman. Holy crap, awesome fights
2) The movie is a bit long. Definitely parts that could've been trimmed or eliminated IMHO
3) Loved the final battling sequence

To add on- bat voice has a plausible explanation compared to Bale's overdramatic bat voice. The voice was much better done in this movie.

Yeah I forgot to mention I loved how
they gave a practical reason for the bat voice.

Also they could've

completely eliminated the weird dream sequences and made the movie a bit shorter. The trench coat bat scene was cool but not really serving any purpose.
