Rewatching the last season of Star Wars: Rebels again with my son, and it's really far better than most things that have been done with the Star Wars universe.

Gina Carano Is No Longer a Part of Star Wars

Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune on Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian, will no longer be on the show. A Lucasfilm spokesperson told io9 she "not currently employed by" them.

Bit more of an issue for Rangers of the New Republic, which was supposed to have been built around Cara Dune... I guess they'll just make the series is about a different Ranger unit. Or get someone else to play the younger Cara.

I enjoyed her character enough, but there wasn’t a lot of backstory or character development to build on for the spin-off. Seems like it would be fairly easy to create a new character and run with that.

Maybe they can get someone with better acting skills. Only person worse was Ronda Rousey.

I rewatched Deadpool recently, and hadn't even realized it was her. I don't think she says a single word in that movie, which is approximately the right amount for someone of her acting ability.

I enjoyed her character enough, but there wasn’t a lot of backstory or character development to build on for the spin-off. Seems like it would be fairly easy to create a new character and run with that.

The character was...fine, but it would have been easy enough to not even bring her back for the second season without impacting the plot. They could write her out in S3 without really explaining anything, I doubt people who aren't following the story outside of the show would even notice.

I have no idea how they thought she could carry a spinoff, but the Mouse needs money I guess.

They could build a show around Captain Carson Teva. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee is a solid actor and I suspect they were going to use him anyway.

Have they said she was supposed to carry the spin-off? I know she was supposed to be in it but I didn’t think it was going to be built around her.

If it’s an ensemble cast of characters then Disney should be fine replacing her. Even late in the game.

People might be making more of this then it needs to be.
