The Mandalorian Season 2... the first episode was tedious, time-wasting and derivative. Of course The Mandalorian is not much more than the sum of its influences and that's often fun, but here is was just lazy and not really that clever to highlight how much Lucas stole from Dune.

Seconded. I mostly enjoyed the first season. S2E1 was tediously bad.

Eh, I didn't think it was that bad. Not good, especially, but not terrible. It's never been a fast paced show, and this was definitely a slower episode, but it kinda felt like they were trying to ease us back into the flow.

I kept waiting for them to say something about melange, though.

I enjoyed it. Will it stand out as one of the better episodes of the series? Not even close, but it was an enjoyable start to the season. The show has a certain calming pace to it and I actually think that is one of its strengths.

Feel free to take away my Star Was fan card because I didn't realize

The actor at the end was the same one who played Jango Fett in the prequels and was meant to be Boba Fett.

I kind of wish they had just left him dead.

From what I've seen of him in other roles (Aquaman's dad), dude is definitely not fitting to that armor anytime soon.

I needed to look that up online afterwards. Guess I'm a ****** fanboi, too.

I did like that
They showed the Tusken raiders pulling a pearl out of the Krayt dragon corpse, since that was one of my preferred lightsaber components in Knights of the Old Republic

Different strokes I guess, I thought it was great season opener. I really like that we got to see a little bit more of Tuskan society, and a Kryatt dragon teased in the first (’77) film. I also loved the idea that the Marshall has the Fett armor and was using it to protect a small town.

Regarding Morrison (5′ 7″ according to the internet) and the Fett Armor, he has never been as tall or lanky as the original guy in the armor (Jeremy Bulloch, 6′ 0″ according to internet), and I don’t think he looks all that bad in Aquaman, he was dressed mostly in flannel shirts….. They should be able create a set of amour made for him that looks like the original armor.

I liked it. S2E1 was the preamble and was meant to set up the eventual confrontation between Mando and Boba Fett

They should've gone all out and called him something like Rei Lan Giphenns.

Was John Leguizamo the bartender? I noticed his name in the credits but hadn’t noticed his presence during the episode.

JL was this guy:

The bartender was played by this actor (W. Earl Brown) who also played a bartender in Deadwood.

It's not so much that Morrison looks bad--but he's definitely more solid/thicker than the guy playing the sheriff, who looks like he has about a 28-inch waist.

I also sort of liked seeing the Tusken Raiders get a moment as a culture/people and not just some guys in headwraps taking long-range potshots at people out in the desert. It sort of verged on Kumbaya territory towards the end, but I appreciated that everyone sort of recognized that the fragile peace between the Tuskens and the townspeople would probably fall apart eventually.

EDIT: I also liked how in the concept art Boba Fett's weapons included that club that sort of looked like a cross between a Tusken warclub and that battle club Chingachgook had in Last of the Mohicans.
