1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I think in a thread for obsessives, spoilers can be allowed much earlier than that. Nobody reading this thread is going to wait for home video if they care about spoilers.

But certainly outside of dedicated threads where movie details are being discussed...You can go ahead and talk about Dumbledore in a Harry Potter fan thread, but at least wait until the paperback is out before you start using it in general conversation.

But then there is a question about when do you draw the line...if you aren't waiting for video, how early do you spoil? I don't know. What I do know is that I won't be reading anything in this thread starting tomorrow night until I have seen the movie.

1: Nice try, but that design is obviously not from a Star Wars movie.

2: And while it looks like the lid fell off, I believe it's to be used with one of these:

That's the chute where the on-board toilets eject into space.

Not kidding at all. Use spoiler tags and your best judgement. I'm talking major stuff.

No one is saying don't talk spoilers. I just think the use of spoiler tags is warranted. I've brought up the point before that this isn't just some random film hitting the theater. It's Star Wars and if it ends up being good or not doesn't change the fact that's it's a very important film release for many.

Having said that I was thinking a compromise would be to indicate that there will spoilers in the thread title a week or two after the film's release. Then people could more freely discuss these things without the use of tags.

And just in case you don't believe that those holes that really look like gun ports are actually gun ports:

Unless you have a financial interest in the movie, there's probably something seriously wrong if this movie's release is "very important" to you.

That's how fandom works. Look at any popular sport.

Take-away being that cops are such habitual liars that they've lost all perspective on what is or isn't a credible lie?

If you look closely you can see that the Queen's ship also has two gun ports on the bottom side, too. Missile launchers maybe?

Maybe it is kind of like how base model cars still have cutouts for fog lights, but they just put a plastic grill in there to fill the space if you don't buy that option.

Film has already passed $100 million in advance ticket sales. Previous record holder was The Dark Knight at $25 million. These numbers are insane.

Posts about race and cops, you see I reply, and it's about Natalie Portman's stupid chrome space ship. It'd be nice to get a little pat on the back to make sure the joke's not going over everybody's head. Ah well.

I was thinking about the movie and why everyone expects it to be good. After all, J.J. Abrams made it. And he's made such classics as... uh.... looking at his filmography, has he ever been involved in a good movie? I can't see one. It's too bad you can't trust reviewers these days, so I'll have to wait until the weekend to explain why the movie sucked.
