To be clear, the Jedi have lost track of whole galaxies, so the idea that a few Jedi weren’t accounted for isn’t that absurd.

This is one of the reasons they'd be well served to do a timeline jump. Either go post-ROTJ or Old Republic.

Trying to mine the increasingly limited space between the prequels and the OT really puts the writers in a box, especially with existing characters.

I know people like to romanticize Lucas as having a grand plan for 9 movies, but he couldn’t even keep the continuity straight between the OT and prequels. I have little doubt he would have also taken liberties with the ST had he been in charge of the making of it.

When did he say that? It was clearly not his intention when he made the OT.

Sure. He loves to tell people he had 9 movies mapped out in his head, but he clearly didn't. He barely even completed the first and had to have someone else redo it for him, and most of the main ongoing plot points were completely changed (Luke, Leia and Vader's relationships being a huge case in point).

Exactly. That’s a large reason why I don’t understand why fans get so worked up on nonimportant canon details with the newer content. Lucas was winging it from the start.

Nah I disliked The Last Jedi the moment I saw it in the theatre. Never bought RJ`s convoluted explanation for tearing down Lukes character.

Would have much preferred an adaptation of Zahns "Heir to Empire" trilogy over what the JJ/RJ sequels turned out to be.

Lol.

I'm bored and just trolling this thread but most people who claim he tore down Luke's character base it on the idea that he tried to kill Ben.

Spoiler: He didn't.

I didn't hate TLJ, but I fell asleep while watching it, which is something I've only done in a theater maybe 2-3 times in the past 20 years (not counting kid movies I went to out of obligation, rather than actual desire to see). Even Solo, a movie that was almost universally disliked, didn't put me to sleep.

I actually liked Solo.
