It was all brilliantly done but I don't care about the character

For discussion:

Is Cassian any less compelling as a character than Han Solo?

I mean, Harrison Ford made Han awesome (by far the best good guy from the OT) but in terms of compelling characters he’s really not any more interesting than Andor.

As far as the OT goes, I'd argue that none of the characters were particularly well developed. Most, probably all, were two dimensional and fit into simplistic stereotypes.

I have no patience for people who are unwilling to try new things.

As far as it goes I don't really mind people who want to hear more stories about old characters, but the sheer hostility to anything new in big segments of the Star Wars community is really frustrating. You saw some of that in the reaction to TLJ, and the subsequent overcorrection in ROS. Can we at least be open to something that isn't just nostalgia mining?

One of the best things about Rogue One was that I actually cared about the secondary characters along with leads. I really like Andor's personal story and the rest of the cast are interesting as well. Contrast that with Ep 7-9 where the leads were all dorks (including Luke unfortunately) and the secondary characters were uninteresting.

Are you saying Finn and Poe weren’t interesting!? That casino scene was great and was really important in the movie

This just reminds me how infuriating it was to watch Lucas continually **** around while loudly proclaiming that he always had a master plan.
**** him, and **** calling Star Wars "A New Hope".

Even my son, who is 12, does not call it 'A New Hope'. In fact, I don't know anyone who does.

Re-branding it as "Episode 4" was ballsier than the ANH bit, when it took him another 20 years to release Ep 1 lol.

At least the "Star Wars" tag could be ambiguous, not clear if you were talking about the series or the first movie.

FWIW, a new hope has always been in my mind and I was a kid watching them on repeat before the prequels were announced.

I could never think of it that way. Star Wars to me was the 1977 movie. I can use it as shorthand I guess on social media.

I say both. 🤷‍♂️

A New Hope just prevents any confusion.

"Star Wars" is the first released movie.
Anything to the contrary is complete poppycock...

Of course, it’s a good idea. The universe needs to be moved forward.
