1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

How did the empire take control of the galaxy with an army of such piss poor shots? Why did Obi-Wan allow himself to die without atleast trying to kill Vader first? How did Luke get so well trained by the start of ROTJ? Nothing makes sense!!! :butbut:

No, the cross-saber is just really fucking stupid looking. It's different just for the sake of being different.

It's meant, as is his robe, to envoke the crusades. A night with his broadsword on a "holy" mission. I thought this was obvious.

    wtf Ataturk
Almost every fucking sword in history had some sort of handguard, if it offered no protection they would not have it LMAO

None had handguards that cut backwards. None had a core that was made of material that could easily be cut by an opponent's weapon.

I was going to post the same thing as Ataturk. We've seen lightsaber's handles cut through before, and now we must suddenly assume that in this (crude) design that couldn't happen.

^ we don't know, so why assume anything, maybe you can cut through maybe don't, either way better than lightsaber with no handguard at all

also only a retard would hit himself with handle of his own sword, so no it won't cut backwards

there is so much stupid shit in star wars and you nitpick at stuff that makes more sense than the original lightsaber SMH

Exactly, since only a retard would have this design for a sword.

no a retard would design Darth Mauls sword which makes no sense -still it's in movie about Force, Jedi and aliens so I don't even mind it
this sword has best practical design of star wars swords so far so idk why it's been object of such criticism, makes no sense

I really hope you let this light saber design ruin the movie for you. :)

They could be chemical weapon suits for all you know. That's easy to look past.

The swords you're thinking of are supposed to invoke the cross. Do you think Darth Anteater is a christian fundamentalist? And who wore a cloak over a helmet? It would get stuck and you wouldn't be able to turn your head.

Yes its supposed to envoke a cross and fundamentalism. It's for movie audiences watching a film about a mysticsl energy that lets people toss objects at each other and aliens that look like reject big foot costumes for Harry and the Henderson. What's your point? Symbolism is a long standing film tradition and in this type of film audiences are generally willing to suspend a little more belief.

So the "rebels" are the Muslim hordes trying to invade European civilization?

A flaming cross and a hood. Symbolism. I get it.

But he's wearing black and he's evil. Is the implication supposed to be that guys with flaming crosses and white hoods are the good guys? This JJ Abrams guy is messed up.

I don't know why you guys are engaging with Ataturk. Imagine that he's Javyn and then realize how silly an endeavor it is.

Are you kidding? We just had a major breakthrough in figuring out what the new movies are really about.

Eh. I call bullshit on that. Just a case of a low paid marketing hack taking liberties. Don't think for a moment that Maz is Londo and Han's love child.
