1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

You guys are quick with the updates, I was just about to post that trailer as well.

Can't wait to see the reasoning behind Ren's unconventional light saber.

I doubt they will take time to explain it other then maybe that it's rather crude due to lack of experience in crafting them.

He needs it to protect himself against all the other people with lightsabers he has to fight.

Don't be absurd. Why would you ever need to protect your hand in a light saber fight?

It doesn't protect the hands at all, which is why I imagine it would be useless on any real sword.

But in Star Wars it seems to be the wrists that always get hacked at, probably because it's more cinematic to cut off an entire hand than it is to slice off some fingers.

Crossguards on swords don't offer any protection to the hand?

Not when they have a big gap in the middle where the hand is.

No reason to not think that the mini blades start in the center closer to the main blade. Besides it's sci-fi/fantasy. Why not just spend your time arguing how the force doesn't make sense while you are at it?

I'm really sick of that argument. Just because it's fantasy doesn't mean it can get away with being dumb.

You are right. It can't get away with dumb. Thing is nitpicking Kylo's light saber design seems far more dumb then any failings in the weapon you have pointed out so far. Like I said earlier, you don't even know how it's supposed to work in the film.

Only if the design of these blasters makes complete logical sense.

Read this as: when it's my ass on the line, I want a weapon that makes sense.

So does everyone else. That's why this is dumb.

Why no complaints about storm troopers wearing useless armor if you're also complaining about the light saber?
