Don't know what those two acronyms mean. But going by the the two trailers, it seemed that Finn was a guy in over his head: first shot, first trailer Finn freaks out in the desert, second trailer he's taking off his helmet hyperventilating and then is seen being picked up/saved by Rey. Small sample size for sure, but it didn't look like he was Jedi material. And who knows, maybe he's not and is just picking up a lightsaber cuz he has to. Thought he was merely a deserting storm trooper who joins the good guys.

As established before (and many times outside of this thread) that you don't have to be a Jedi/Sith to have the force (or wield a lightsaber). It was revealed that Kylo isn't a Sith. So Finn could still be all what you described.

I think the big reveals are going to be Luke and Snoke, though these will all be revealed in toys and such in the next 3 or so months before the film releases.

SDCC = San Diego Comic Con

IIRC = if i recall correctly

    lol

No, you don't need to be a force-user to wield a saber - it just helps so you don't cut something off your own person, given the weightless nature of the blade.

I think Finn is going to be a good hero, swimming out of his depth... at least at the start.

Oh I think I'm a much more casual fan than you guys.
For me, Jedi = good guy who uses the force.
Sith = bad guy who uses the force.
Whatever the case, I'm putting up a Star Wars shield from now until Christmas to avoid spoilers. Feel like I've seen/read too much already. Regards.

I like Star Wars and not really a fanboy, all the things I know are pretty new to me too.

The SW universe outside of the movies are far bigger and more interesting. I am hoping they bring in some of those lore to the big screen.

Han Solo used a light saber in Empire just fine. :)

    ^^

Are those giants CGI or huge models? They look very realistic.

I assume they're models, as they appear to be, though to what extent they were CGI'd over in the movie doesn't seem to be adequately addressed, at least to me.

Yes. This was the overall problem with the prequels. I see a lot of prequel defenders toss out articles like that to prove that the films where not all CGI, but they miss the point. The films had an artificial look to them because they went out of their way to modify everything with computers and add CGI to scenes. You add in the fact that a lot of the CGI in them doesn't hold up well and George forgot that sci-fi fantasy films geared for the whole family doesn't mean "kids film" and your result are films that are not remembered fondly by fans of the originals.

I have no doubt that Episode 7 will also be loaded with CGI, but I also expect them to take great care to maintain a look and feel to the film that be far more "real" and in line with the originals.
