It if would mean that the movie is actually better than anything they've shown us so far, then yes please.

(Not meant to imply that that was the case for R1.)

So maybe the Lando movie wasn't such a good idea after all. Hahah.

I'm getting the vibe that SOLO is pretty average now that more reviews are hitting. One of my favorite movie reviewers gave it a middle of the road review. Once again thinking I might wait for home video on this one.

Disney decided he was charging too much for his reviews?

Disney cheaped out on the launch party's catering this time.

My wife wants to go see it in theaters, so I'll probably go. She also wants to see Deadpool though, so it might be a Memorial Day weekend at the theater.

I've only heard average at this point too.

That probably translates to a decent popcorn movie though, when you account for all the early reviews praising and bestowing absolute adoration upon TLJ.

We all know how that worked out. :dozingoff:

We saw Solo tonight. We enjoyed it and thought it was fun and entertaining. It's definitely set up so that they could do another one if they wanted.

Clearly bought and paid for by Big Disney (TM). How much did you get?

Saw it today with my boy - and I agree that it was very entertaining, in no way as dark or as good as Rogue One, but well-paced and fun with a few serious moments that add to rationale for the rebellion in the original film, and even one reveal that was totally unexpected. The cast is great, particularly Woody Harrelson and Donald Glover, but also Phoebe Waller-Bridge as droid revolutionary, L3-37. And Alden Ehrenreich is not bad at all. There's no point complaining that he doesn't look like Harrison Ford - who does? - he does come across effectively as a more naive, cocky version of the Han we know. And Chewbacca has a lot to do, which is great as he's always deserved more as a character. It's basically a double-crossing heist film in the Star Wars universe and that's no bad thing.

I'm going to see Deadpool tomorrow, but we might go see Solo on Monday.

Loved Deadpool. Solo was okay as a popcorn flick.

many people suggest Solo suffers in box office and ratings because of TLJ.. seems plausible, many people outright boycotted the movie

Eh. I wouldn’t read too much into the box off for Solo. From the day it was announced people have been asking “why do we need this?” I’ve kept an eye on the fan community and even many of the diehards have had trouble getting excited for the film.

I know a couple YT reviewers who loved TLJ, but these days seem to be pandering to the community that hated it with their recent videos. In that it’s had an effect.

Edit: It does feel like SW is suffering from early fatigue since the relaunch of the franchise with Disney. It’s something the MCU has somehow managed to avoid.

I do wonder how long the enthusiasm will last once the Sequel Trilogy is finished. There will always be a market for SW films. It’s just one has to start to wonder how long the hype will last.

yeah that too, at least that's the case with me, did not boycott it but I'm not interested in that story line
though if I had kids, likely I would go see it with them

though overall tracking people response movie does suffer because of rage after TLJ, hard to say to what extent it is lack of excitement for this movie and how much of it is a backlash
