1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I've heard one of the only joys about them is getting a bootleg copy at a convention. The feeling of finding a lost piece of history and watching the bad tape transfer on your VCR. If they ever released it on Blu-Ray or DVD officially you wouldn't have that.

Lucas is tracking the pre-CGI remakes and the Christmas special across the galaxy and destroying them. Call it Order 1977.

If you listen to the podcast I posted, they get into some of the history of the Holiday Special and how/why it got made. It's fascinating stuff.

One take away is very much in line with my earlier point that they were taken by surprise at how successful SW was. People were hungry for it and this created a level of desperation to produce something, anything to feed the masses.

Sounds familiar. Were the initial reviews of the Holiday Special very positive before everyone sobered up?

Yeah. I agree to a large extent. My hope is they at least skip the whole origin story and just tell a solid story with the character in it.

If they want origin stories, go to the Mandalorians, the original Sith, the Old Republic, Darth Reven, etc.

They actually did radio dramas of all three episodes of the original trilogy. New Hope and Empire are pretty good, Return of the Jedi not so much, I think they got a greatly reduced budget, so it is very short.

The first two though are quite good. There is a lot of background and additional "scenes" such as Vader interrogating Leah on the Death Star for the location of the Rebel Base, and some of the back story about how the Rebels learned of the Death Star, and subsequently Leah got the mission to pick up the plans, and Obi Wan....

    Of course, YMMV

I remember listening to those as a kid and really liking them. Of course, I was like, 8, so, less critical and jaded.

Even in a swashbuckler movie, however many armored skeletons there are, and how easily a musketeer can dispatch of his foes while drinking his tea, a ghost ship still needs to be revealed by the magical mist parting. You can't just have the ghost ship just suddenly be there, out of the literal blue. "Oh, right, and there was a ghost ship alongside starboard.

Hmmmm. Undead armies coming forth from magical mists and politics... I feel like there is some kind of joke there.

Will Rogue One end with Vaders star destroyer chasing down a cruiser carrying a certain princess and two droids?

I think that's cool, TBH. What are the three cooler jackets ranked before it?
