I, for one, welcome square-shouldered bloggers and influencers
We got Simon with his sloped shoulders and Kirby with his dropped left shoulder. We need someone with broad muscular shoulders!

I have broad square shoulders and made several attempts to list the British slur
which is an acronym for "Worthy Oriental Gentleman" but the polically correct
decency filter caught it. Let's see if this works.

If you don't like the idea of buying and selling influence - I don't - the most impactful way to deal with it is to boycott the firms paying for influence with freebies.

There are only 3-4 that do it consistently on PS and their products are eminently replaceable - the really good makers don't have much use for the influencer model because they compete on product not marketing.

If you really want to make a splash, why not drop them a note to tell them what you are doing :)

I think you are underestimating the number of companies that do this. Besides, is boycotting the brands with sound business sense the correct course of action?

Despite all the deserved critique, I still think that PS is an excellent platform for brands to increase their visibility and we should not be discouraged from benefiting from that. If you are doubtful about the honesty of a review, surely there are ways to verify the information through other means.

Thank you @lockstock for responding succinctly to my post.

Respectfully, although you have put it in quotes you haven't really addressed my key position which is that if you don't like the idea of buying and selling influence, you can boycott the firms paying for influence.

Your argument that this is unrealistic - that there are too many to boycott, that influencing is a convenient service to consumers - is tangential to my key point.

My key point is that it is your choice.

If you value convenience over other aspects, you should certainly choose PS :)

I agree with your points, it’s all about perspective and what one values.

Only if I can get as much free bespoke as Simon and Kirby (allegedly).
I think the problem is all the freebies are beaten to death. You need someone who can introduce people to unheralded craftsman. Not business men. Like tomasso or Luca!

I will be moving all the discussion of the term "Oriental" vs. "Asian" to the current events forum. Politics, including the politics of identity are not to be discussed in the main forum. Suffice it to say that it's common courtesy to call people what they prefer to be called, and that is what we will do here. This is a North-American based forum, and so American norms will be observed.

The term "Asians" will be used. If you wish to use the term "Oriental" when referring to East or South Asians, you may do so elsewhere. Thank you in advance.

We will also please refrain from calling people "fat" If you are not articulate enough to express that opinion in a more polite, courteous fashion, I would strongly advise you to not express the opinion at all.

Thank you,

Fok.

Merchants cannot be assumed to give unbiased reviews, period. This holds true for watches, cars, and certainly clothing. I don't know anyone is naive enough to be led by the nose by online writing, so as they say, Caveat emptor always
I think that the real problem is not so much with Simon's blog, but with how people choose to read it. It's not investigative journalism. it's informative entertainment. The more people understand that, the more they enjoy their lives rather than yelling at the sky that things are not the way they apparently ought to be.

Exactly. I enjoy reading the blog, taking what I find useful and ignoring what I don't. You just have not to take everything at face value.

As I said, I've learned much from their informative contents.
