Yea around that time in my area. I remember it started falling off around the time he made a racist comment.

lol yea I heard that it wasn't true too later on. Hilfiger even talked about how that rumor killed his brand in some interviews. I still remember disc jockeys talking about it and trying to get their followers to boycott his clothing.

Honestly, if your coworker is aware of TH and has not heard of TB, then he's not really someone whose opinion of fashion is something you should listen to.

Btw, I'm quite amazed on how much of a love hate relationship TB has here. I personally find most of his pieces to be very wearable. It's not necessary to wear him head to toe, but in terms of mix and match, there's a lot you can do with his stuff. I personally find Commes des Garcons to be a lot harder to wear than TB.

I like new Hilfiger. Still wouldn't wear what is in the Tommy Store besides the pennyloafers collab with Bass.

Hilfiger I thought did a decent job of rebranding itself in like 2004 when it did the H line, mostly suits, and had Bowie modeling some English/mod style stuff. The make wasn't great but it looked good. Guess it wasn't a great fit b/c new Hilfiger stuff seems squarely in the straight American prep thing, like a confused man's RL.

I envision new TH the same way I see TB or the first season of Never Sleep. A goofy with a bit of macabre take on the All-American style. Not this fetish where everyone went to a Ivy League school but the twisted sister side of it where everyone was too much of a rebel but at the same time they were all the same mental robots.

edit: guess McNairy and BoO would fall into this too.

Simon Spurr was hired as a creative consultant to Hilfiger back in 2010 (http://racked.com/archives/2010/11/...ted-creative-consultant-to-tommy-hilfiger.php). I think you can really see his influence in the last TH collection (http://www.gq.com/fashion-shows/brief/S2012MEN-THMEN). I think they've done a really good job of keeping the TH aesthetic while updating everything so it no longer looks like 90s nostalgia. But while it's better, it's still not my favorite.

Re: Thom Browne, I like the way his stuff looks head to toe, but it seems tough to incorporate individual pieces into your own look. It's not adaptable, imo. I was debating heading over to the sale, but I decided I'd rather get a blazer from the Surface To Air sale instead, so I'm skipping it. Sorry, reedo...someone hook him up with a proxy!

    LYONSTATE 20% OFF SALE

    FALL20

LYONSTATE doesn't get enough love around here. Great service, good lines, not a huge selection, but it's one of the better online shops out there.
