if you are in A^2 i am gonna wanna see wats in boxes !
I always assumed they sold them to Yoox and other liquidators, but I don't know if this is true.
Some retailers definitely sell to discounters. Unsold stuff from the Barney's warehouse sale would turn up in Filene's Basement in NYC sometimes, and I've seen tags from Fred Segal still attached to stuff in Filene's. They would also mark items as being from Gilt on price tags. I believe some retailers may work out deals to sell stuff back to the designers, but I don't think this happens that often. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
yeah ive seen stuff from barneys end up at filenes
sucks now that filenes is gone
guess tjmaxx and marshalls would get them now
How do you like your CG Chateau?
R.I.P. Filene's Basement.
its alright. def xs is slimmer in chateau than s in calgary... too bad uncle otis sold out of xs or i would have stuck with calgary
i know the CG thread is now bashing the increased prices and quality and fact that some models arent that warm as they used to be, but i needed a new slim winter jacket and i got mine from context at a lil under 500 and i dont need it to be antarctic warm living in DC so it fits my needs pretty well
i never heard or have access to most of the alternatives mentioned in the CG thread. i would have grabbed a Moncler instead but they are mostly at double the price of CG and would not have been worth it IMO
I also got a Chateau, and it's plenty warm for me, so no complaints. XS was surprisingly small, so I got the S.
DC has a pretty mild winter IMO. The Chateau should be plenty warm for your needs. I think it's a good choice.
Agree with your thoughts on Moncler.
yah, this year its been mild fuck buying a coat, lol
it barely snowed yesterday..
yeah mr porter's insane. marked my shipping address as the dorm because i thought they'd take about a week to get the stuff out the door... but i just got an email saying that it's arrived
still a little confused since they're supposed to send it to the billing address on the first purchase?
You USA guys get it good. Porter Europe is slow as hell to get stuff out.
The Mandon store has 40% off, but it's all a bit meh, IMO. But there are a few jeans/ sweaters/ etc in there that someone may fins useful so here goes:
But this unique sale will only be available to you until the 16th of January, and only by using the promo' code 'Newyear'. It will grant you 40% off any product, with the exception of the following brands:
North Sea clothing
Czech & Speake
I made my first purchase at Mr Porter when things were half off. My billing address is US and my shipping address is Portugal. They refunded a small amount to my CC to verify. I had to wait over the weekend for it to get posted and then it was in USD so I was worried it wouldn't match up. I got like 5 items that were the last one available so I have been sweating it out. Seems like they are ready to ship it now though.
If anyone got the Hartford fair isle in M and you don't want it let me know.
What a blatant ripoff of the Geller reverse fair isle from last year
A friend was once a manager at a "hip" national chain. She told me that once their final sale stuff hit "dime out" and eventually needed to be cleared after the big sales, they were told to destroy them with a box cutter or scissors and throw them in the trash.
Her store once got in hot water because they didn't destroy them, as it was winter and homeless people went through the dumpsters and the SAs figured extra layers are extra layers in Boston. Well some regional manager type was on a store visit, saw a panhandler in a current season cardigan half a block from the store front, and the heavy hand came down that EVERYTHING leftover from final sales were destroyed.
So I guess it depends on the policies of the company.
